Default Have yet to get sick since starting Ginseng regimen, why?

So I'm not sure if this is coincidence or if there is a true reason behind this. But I haven't had a cold or flu type sickness in over a year. Basically since I started taking Ginseng. Trust me I'm not complaining, was just wondering if anyone knew why?

Ginseng is an adaptogenic.

A most marvellous tonic. Especially useful after a period of illness.

What in essence it does is help the body recover its strength and vitality, and boost the immune system - and that ultimately is the key to maintaining good health.

I have fond memories of taking it back in the 80s. Certainly helped me then. Not only from the physical health perspective, but it also helped arouse my passion for natural health.

Was mostly wondering if anyone had a biological explanation for it. For example, ginseng does this to your cells therefore allowing cells to do this to bacteria/virus etc...

Ginseng is full of saponins. Approximately thirty of these compounds have been identified, and they appear to be responsible for most of the activity of ginseng. Their chemical structures are similar to those of steroids such as testosterone and estrogen. Other nonsaponin components have been shown to lower blood sugar. Other components, of ginseng, have been shown to stimulate nitric oxide formation.

Ginseng is sedative at low doses and a stimulant at high doses.

This balancing act is why ginseng is known as an adaptogen.

Biological explanations are hard to come by, because those that have money for such study find no avenue for monetary income.

Suffice it to say that ginseng has been used for over 2000 years. No one has complained.

I sure haven't complained, if anything I raise it on a pedestal as a miracle :-). I figured in depth info would be hard to come by but figured I'd see what people here knew. Thanks for the info jfh.

That is it's secret! It restores the body to health and 'balance' and this in turn helps the body itself to fight off bacteria/sickness.

As Jim points out, ginseng is one of the most ancient natural remedies humanity has. And as all such natural remedies it has stood the test of time for a reason - it works!
