Default Vitamins and Supplements that Cancel Each Other Out

What are vitamins and minerals that you need to be aware of that cancel each other out?

ascorbic acid
magnesium?

I can't remember if someone said...magnesium is canceled out by the effects of the antioxidant of ascorbic acid??

Ascorbic acid will cancel iodine (transforms it into iodide). Selenium is needed when you take iodine, but should not be taken at the same time. So putting these 3 things in a multivitamin is worthless.

Magnesium will cancel calcium. Magnesium is a natural calcium channel blocker. Should be taken at separate times during the day.

The sulfur compounds of garlic will oxidize mercury, cadmium, and lead making them unusable by the body. But you don't want them anyway.

I read a long time ago that fish oil supplements shouldn't be taken with any others, that the oil absorbs all of the beneficials.

Well, I still take my fish oil with all my other supplements, and I know from this forum, that D3 is best when taken with Omega 3's.

I read somewhere where C cancels out selenium. The selenium you take is not an antioxidant by itself, it is incorporated into an enzyme that is an antioxidant.

Magnesium will not cancel calcium, however, will regulate it.

Several vegetables contain both magnesium and calcium, for a very good reason... that is if they were to cancel each other out, then only one or the other would be present in a given veggie, not both.

Nature does not make mistakes.

Magnesium dilates the smooth muscle, including the tiny muscles of the blood vessels. That's why magnesium helps to lower blood pressure. Magnesium also helps with leg cramps for the same reason.

Calcium constricts these same things.

In that magnesium is a natural calcium channel blocker, it negates the effect of calcium. Sure it is the same a "regulation". However, both minerals are very essential to the body. Since magnesium restricts/blocks the action of calcium, I say "cancels". So, it is better to take them separately.

Calcium channel blocker drugs work to lower blood pressure by blocking the entry of calcium into heart cells and smooth muscle cells of blood vessels. Magnesium has protective features that balance out the negative effects of calcium overload on the heart. It blocks the entry of calcium into heart cells and vascular smooth muscle cells, reducing vascular resistance and naturally lowering blood pressure. Both minerals need to be present for the body to absorb them properly.

Sea weed is one food that contains substances that cancel each other out. There must be a reason that Nature did this, but I think not for humans.

Iron and vitamin C will inactivate folic acid.

If you supplement Folic Acid, also supplement Vitamin B12. There is not a toxic buildup of Folic Acid when there is sufficient B12 available.
