Default One gene only codes one protein

so if I change a gene in humans to produce a more efficient form of insulin, the new humans will be able to handle sugar more efficiently. Right? Maybe not the case! The first generation humans will, but because of this, their metabolic efficiency change will cause other enzyme systems to change and after a few generations, the new humans will be different from us. I am leading to a discussion on GMO foods. The first generation crop will not be the same down the line. Playing God is not good.

That's like marrying someone that you did not know had plastic surgery. The baby might be not very good looking. You might think it was the milkman.
