I came in thinking about Iodoral for heart arrhythmia.I am in atrial fib now and wondering about Iodoral with Synthroid. I tried to supplement Iodoral and had palpitations with it. I think I was still drinking real coffee in those days but only one cup.
I had Hashimoto's disease before they removed the thyroid and Stage 2 thyca in 2002. My endo will not discuss anything other than what he wants to discuss. Take this . Don't listen to anyone else. Anyway, I don't want to be shocked but my heart shows no signs of converting. Anyone done Iodoral who had thyca and was kept hyperthyroid to keep cancer at bay?

Your sure iodoral gives heart palpitations?
Lugol's got rid of my heart palpitations, although I was not afib.
Palpitations can be caused by a number of things. Afib is a serious condition, as Im sure you know.
What meds are you on for afib?
Are you a man or a woman?
and what is your intent with taking iodoral? Is there a condition you are trying to alleviate with it?

I am waiting for cardioversion. I hope I will just convert but so far ..so bad.
I have tried to convert by taking magnesium and so far nothing except a lot of frequent visits to the restroom.
I am on the blood pressure medications I was taking which is atenolol and tekturna . I am now taking warfarin waiting for my blood to thin so I may be shocked into sinus rhythm.
The cardiologist wants to shock my heart into sinus rhythm but this is all I am on presently besides 175 mg of Synthroid. My a fib is not rapid but I miss beats.
I know a fib is serious. My mom had this for forty years and both brothers Mom is 82 now but was never converted. I hoped my endocrinologist would lower my thyroid hormone but he will not. He insists I must be kept hyperthyroid to keep thyroid cancer at bay. I was stage 2 , 8 years ago. Thanks for writing.

I do not understand your condition very well to give many ideas. If your thyroid is gone why does this doctor fear thyroid cancer? unless he thinks there are mets of this cancer possibly somewhere else?

You might try magnesium oil. They say it is absorbed better than oral pills and of course you wont have all those trips...

Swanson vitamins sells it on line. You would have to apply it to your feet and lower legs at least 4 times a day. I apply a little lotion with it or it can be itchy.

Iodine is very important for many other body parts besides the thyroid. It should not interfer with your synthyroid at all. If you think it is causing palpitations try applying it topically over the areas you are concerned about. Use Lugol's iodine. Its liquid.
