Default Why are governments not taking action on Vitamin D

Vitamin D Council

Below is an excellent article on why governments are not acting on vitamin D and are not likely to act anytime soon:

If everyone in the country would begin taking 2000 IU a day, within a yr, the drug companies would notice a downtrend in sales.

Less action by government is a good thing. As a matter of fact, how about no action from government.

At present Governments through "official" health information sources recommend daily allowances for certain vitamins and minerals. Although these actually minimum amounts for good health not optimum amounts.

Human bodies create 10,000+iu Vitamin D3 from full body UVB exposure, only when the natural 25(OH)D this results in is replicated will we see overall improvements in health.

At the very least "official" vitamin D information from Government funded health authorities should recognize the simple fact that 2000iu/daily D3 is not toxic, even for new-born babies and results in an 80% reduction in Type 1 diabetes incidence over the next 30yrs.

I think it is reasonable for government sponsored health authorities to try to undo some of the damage their misguided advice has causes.

That's the problem...people will keep hoping government can fix the problems they create...when in fact, more government intervention will unfortunately lead to more problems.
