Default Tyson Chicken!

I heard on TV last evening that Tyson Foods will be
eleminating the use of antibiotics/chemicals in the
food/grains they feed their chickens for sale at groceries
from now on.

These products will be available in stores as of next week.
It was also said that the products would cost more but
that consumers seem to be willing to pay more for
chemical-free chicken

Looks like some good news.

They "will be" doing so, and yet, we expect the products in stores by next week? Sounds suspicious. If they started right now, then the earliest we can expect such products would be some 6 to 8 weeks from now (which is about the time to raise a broiler chick to slaughter stage). So if they still "will be" doing it, next week's products will definitely not be "it."

I hope that's just some reporting glitch. Either Tyson has been doing it for the last couple of months, or we won't be seeing the products in a couple of months.

Just the way I see it. 8)

Gerry, It could be that they put the program into action
several weeks back and then waited until closer to being
able to deliver before announcing to the public. Who
knows
It might be possible to ask one's grocery meat dept.

I understand what you mean, tho. Anyway, it sounds
better for the future.

So what I don't understand is why if they are using less drugs and not having to pay for the drugs and the monitoring of the drug use etc, why do the chickens cost more?

After all, we are getting less so why pay more even if less is better than more?
