Default Sodas/ soft drinks like Battery Acid!

I heard yesterday on TV that ALL sodas/soft drinks work
like battery acid, on our teeth, eating away at the tooth
enamel. Regardless of whether they are sweetened or
unsweetened. [Well, it has been said that Coca-Cola does
well at cleaning toilet bowls.]
Root Beer seems to be the only one that isn't harmful.

Not sure its an acid in soft drinks. I have used soft drinks for cleaning my car battery of corrosion. It would seem to be an alkaline that reacts with the battery acid. The same thing happens with baking soda. Hence the name soda's.
