Default help with mutivitamins mixed with tegretol

I just want some genral advice about taking an muti vitamin with my anti seizure medicne Tegretol. I am afraid of taking something that will interact badly with the medicne. I would like some more info before going to pay money to find out if it is really okay. Any ideas?

I was told, that you need to take the vitamins at least one hour before you take your medicine.... They will not, to my knowledge interact, but... you want to get all the advantage of the vitamins you can, without the tegretol interferring......
We have taken both the tegretol and the vitamins together before with no problems, but.... I dont have any proof that it wont bother anything.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've seen tegratol taken with all kinds of other chemical garbage and it never affected how it works.

Why would you think that vitamins and minerals that your body needs for sustenence be a risk factor? Your body will need the extra nutrition to support your liver to detox this stuff.

Dr Perricone says in his new book that a high folate diet can cause seizures in those taking anticonvulsant medications.

whats a high diet? who can say. I would avoid folate supplementation and not go above the RDA. I would also look into this further before I accepted it as truth.

Default Hi

Multivitamins are nutritional supplements for people whose diet may be deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. You may need a supplement if you are on a special diet, or don't eat the right foods.

Drugs may interact with herbs, and even vitamins and minerals, causing adverse reactions. The first step in avoiding drug-vitamins interactions is to know where the risks are. You can avoid Supplement-Drug interaction at Mitamins.
