Default Bi-Polar Disorder

Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge about BiPolar
Disorder and how it manifests in those having it?

Or, do you know of any articles explaining about it. Or any
websites or Forums for those who are BiPolar?

The reason I'm asking is that a dear friend called me, very
distressed because her son's marriage of 10 years is ending
and she thinks her daughter-in law-might be BiPolar. This
woman is unable to hold any job, unable to maintain any
friendships, shows little care or concern to their 2 sons,
ages 4 and 7, seems to dislike anything resembling domesticity,
like cooking, etc. She does seem to like using the children
as an excuse to shop 'til she drops, getting them in huge
Credit Card debt to the tune of thousands.
Now, She wants a divorce, tho she has no job or experience -ever.
And is insisting on all kinds of monies which the son/husband
can in no way provide. She's even forcing him to sell the
only home their children have ever known.

Any help or advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Default Helpful information

Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder characterized by alternating states of depression and mania that follow each other in a repeating cycle.

People with bipolar disorder may cycle through these states quickly or may experience long periods of depression or mania. Often one mood state predominates, while the other occurs only infrequently or briefly. The cause of bipolar disorder is unknown

L-Tyrosine plays a role in neurotransmitting systems, which may affect mental health conditions. St. John’s Wort Extract helps promote a positive mood and combats depression and may therefore be useful in the treatment of Biploar Disorder. The Vitamin B Complex 50 is made up of several vitamins that work well together to support nervous system health. Ginkgo Biloba is included in the treatment of Bipolar Disorder as it has been used to maintain peripheral circulation to the brain. Vitamin C, Grape Seed and Green Tea provide antioxidants that protect nerve cells and other parts of the body against free radical damage, a possible outcome of depression and therefore they important in the treatment of Bipolar Disorder.

For her, I would suggest fish oil, lithium orotate, B-6, B-Multiple, and magnesium citrate.
For her husband.........dump her.

Default Bo-Polar!

I agree Jabbo On the
dumping factor, but the financial situation is complex
and too convoluted to explain here.

In addition to the things jabbo suggested, I could say
GET RID OF THE SUGAR
It seems to be the single most important thing that affects people with this disorder.

Would you say the same if she had any other severe illness - because that is what it is?

I do know how you feel though as my son's partner is very similar.

She won't eat properly even though he cooks nutritious food but when she takes her prescribed medication she is a different person.
