Avoid caffeine. Lower sodium intake, increase potassium intake, and increase physical activity.

There actually is a pill that is a natural substance that will lower blood pressure, but there may be some drawbacks. L- Arginine which is one of the amino acids in protien has a blood pressure lowering effect.

L -arginine helps produce nitric oxide in the blood which relaxes the wall of blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. It works very well for me. But to much nitric oxide is not a good thing. Like everything, balance is the key.

Males may find another benefit to L arginine. It can work like Viagra.

You can buy L arginine at Walmart for around $5.

There is grape seed extract. You can find tablets with grape seed extract for that purpose. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/40341.php

Also, read the messages for beet root juice on this forum. You can also find beet root powder to use for convenience. http://www.natmedtalk.com/showthread.php?t=2515

Omega 3 fatty acids. http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/omega-3-000316.htm

I don't have high blood pressure, but it's in my family and I'd like to avoid it as I age. The first thing that came to mind is garlic.

I enjoy pomegranate and lemon juice often for health benefits, and potassium will also help with high BP.
