Default Kava Root? Taste? Strain it?

Looking at something I'd never hear of, Kava Root.

1) can anyone describe what it tastes like? (I read it tastes like a fresh, woody, almost a pine taste) but it is an acquired taste, like black coffee is an acquired taste.

2) should you really strain it, or can you just slug it down, drinking all?

3) anyone take it? Reviews?

Guess I'll be the pioneer on this Kava Root. Found out, many say it tastes like dirt, but they drink it for the effect, not the taste. I ordered some. Best to get the form that has 30% kavalactones and no straining.

I've heard of kava root many years ago, and have occasionally taken it in capsule form. In the wild, the shaman chews it, spits it out, and gives it to the patient. Apparently, the saliva enhances the bioavailability for the body. But, no thanks.
