Yes, it comes to us all. People are living a lot longer these days and for many of them those extra years are anything but a blessing...

Personally, I'll welcome the benefit of accumulated wisdom, but the physical incapacity and loss of mental faculty is a sobering prospect...

It is sobering to think of all the possible hardships that aging may present us. I feel it's very sad that so many aren't kinder and more respectful to the elderly. Caring for an older person who is in poor health is so rewarding when you can make them feel good enough to give a heartfelt smile or laughter.

What a lovely poem, thanks for sharing it.
Anyone visiting a nursing home will see so many sitting around in wheel chairs, some tied into them
so they won't tumble out. There's a lot of theft too of patient's personal property. Never leave anything of value
in your loved one's room or drawers. Sad situations.
