Watch out for bones from livestock who got their drinking water from a source containng fluoride. Fluoride migrates to the bones.

Beef shanks make the BEST bone broth. The marrow is considered liquid/gelatin gold. I think our favorite cut of beef is the shank after it has been cooking for several hours to make soup.

Is anyone here still using bone broth for joint or overall health? Any negative side effects of using bone broth that is made from natural grass fed animals?

Are the prepared organic bone broths they sell in health food stores just as beneficial as homemade bone broth?

I'm using grass fed European cows 100% pure hydrolyzed collagen, KTC. Been on it for 8 days. No side effects. DOug is the expert on Collagen. He talked me into taking it. Said it would help degenerative disc issues. I'll report back when the jar is empty in 20 days.

I read some lady in California has taken it for many years and she's about 71 now; most people can't believe she's 71. I suspect she eats very clean too though. She has no creaking joints and moves well.

No side effects for me. I use the prepared organic bone broths, both chicken and beef a lot. I also use them when I slow cook stews and soups. I certainly prefer that than to try to make my own broth. I also like to warm a cup of water and add a spoonful of prepared broth to it for a nice warm winter drink.

Yes, they are as beneficial as making your own. You can get hydrolyzed collagen, but I feel I can use the prepared broth more.

Thanks Jfh, I'll be heading to Natural Grocers soon and will pick some up to try it, it seems like an easy and inexpensive way to use it.

Thanks for your advice Davy, I am starting to get creaky knees and although I'm eating much healthier than when I was young, I'm far from having a clean diet.

Honestly, I'm not driven to make any major changes in the way I eat, it works for me and my husband. Personally, I've never liked or eaten many vegetables even as a kid, and I do make them now but not on a daily basis, rarely eat salads, etc.
