“Doctors are men who prescribe medicine of which they know little, to cure diseases which they know less, in humans they know nothing.”

They want you to pay insurance to see doctors who cannot even cure the common cold.

I agree d0ug, I know for too, many years I never gave a thought to my health because I was healthy for the most part. After getting on the nutrition/exercise in, or around 2006 (and I've come a long way since that but still have a long way to go) I'm at least in better shape (lost my extra 20 pounds) and know "what" I am eating, which is basically balanced, with little white flour if any, and no sugar (rarely). No alcohol or cigarettes (gag).

Medicare is something I worked for, so I have no qualms about getting it. What I do wonder, is about doctors. I am hoping I might be able to see alternative medicine doctors, chiropractors, etc. I maybe should make another thread?? Let me know you guys if you would like me to.

I don't go to the doctor's much, but last time I was at the Kaiser facility I saw some signs of chiropractors, and other types of physical therapists there, maybe massage, rolfing....don't know, didn't pay much attention. Will be signing up for Medicare and be on it in 2018. Like you I don't visit the doctor much and hopefully it'll stay that way, but who knows.

I try not to go to doctors, but there are times I know I need to. But I turn down a lot of "pills" they want to give me, most all. Instead, I try to find out if they can refer me to other specialists at least. Hopefully someone that can sit and talk with me long enough to know what is truly going on. The others just herd you in, "try" to shove a 'script in your hand, etc.

Maybe when I have Medicare in December, I will have more choice over who I see, but so far, I haven't found hope in the Medicare manual they've sent me

I've been on Medicare for 4 years. I don't go to doctors very much either. Maybe once every 2 years. I rarely see my General Practitioner, but I do see my cardiologist. Now, he really is a drug dealer. I've talked him down to 2 pills. An ACE inhibitor and a calcium channel blocker. I tried to get rid of them, but I guess that will not happen. Anyway, you will have to pay 20% of med expenses. I also pay $20/month for Medicare Plan D (prescription meds). Those things are expensive without that. But you will be able to visit a doctor or specialist of your choice. And there are annual services (checkups) that you may appreciate for free.
