Osha root is an interesting and useful supplement. However, women need to be aware of a serious caveat against ingesting it if pregnant or breast-feeding. The following is from webmd.com:
"

UNSAFE to take OSHA if
you are pregnant. It might start menstruation, and this might
cause a miscarriage. Avoid use.
It's not known if it's safe to use during breast-feeding.

"
A Hint of Caution
If taking Osha root for extended periods of time, it's a good idea to take a break every couple
of months or so. Even though it's not a prescription medicine, you don't want your body to
become immune to its medical benefits. Women who are pregnant or nursing should avoid the
herb, as it can cause uterine contractions."
