Here's a video to watch. Makes me want to clean my ears and get any chunk that might be in there out. My whole life I've had itchy ears and used a Qtip to massage deep in there not realizing I'm pushing wax in deeper. Q tips should be labled "not for use in ears."
If I do have a chunk of wax can I safely get it removed at home?
I think the best is what Michael Phelps does half alcohol and half white vinegar.
My dog has an issue with her ears with ear mites that I tried every solution over the counter and everything that people said worked amazing. Nothing worked until i started to clean her ears with half vinegar and half alcohol.
H202 3% in the ears is very helpful. You can do it several times a day if you need to.
Adding warm olive oil is also helpful to loosen stuff up.
I do believe that excessive ear wax is a sign of overgrowth of pathogens in the ears and itching is certainly a sign.
Ozone gas intilled into the ear will get rid of it. Do 3 to 5 minutes a day for about a week. it makes the ears itch even more but it will pass. Often peoples ears start draining lots of gunk with the ozone. Eventually it clears and you wont even have ear wax anymore. It will also get rid of most cases of tinnitis... ozone really penetrates and remember it will enter the lymph system with this application also so it is very cleansing in a number of ways.
A lessor and more simple remedy is to take Tea Tree oil and put it in the ears daily for a while. It will not likely penetrate into the ear behind the ear drum like the ozone will to kill the pathogens back there, but it is still very helpful.
Yes, slightly warmed olive oil will help to dislodge accumulations of ear wax.
Avoid sticking objects down the ear as this 'ramrods' the wax and makes it compact, and you can perforate the eardrum if you overdo it.
