But this isn’t much of an issue because the environmentalist movement is a subset of the left and its goal isn’t really to stop the earth from freezing/burning up because of industrial production, but to stop industrial production in the Western world to overthrow what they consider to be capitalism and imperialism.
China now accounts for almost as much coal as the rest of the world combined. As it continues to industrialize, that number will only increase. Obama’s attack on American coal is more than futile when you consider that an 87 percent increase in global coal consumption in 2011 was largely due to the industries of the People’s Republic of China.
That is shocking, you wouldn't want to be an Asthmatic, or suffer any lung diseases if you lived there.
Here we are in Australia having to pay a carbon tax, and our sky is clear, and China can pollute and get away without having to pay anything.
China is the world's biggest producer and consumer of coal — and the No. 1 emitter of greenhouse gases and the second-largest consumer of energy. But it's also a developing nation — which means that, like other developing nations, it isn't required to lower its emissions under the Kyoto Protocol.
Ozzie, the carbon tax is a joke and just makes the rich on wall street richer. Also, I remember when I was little when we manufactured everything that there was pollution everywhere (smog, chemical slicks on the rivers)
Beijing competes with Mexico City each year for the most polluted air. Remember the problem with Beijing hosting the summer Olympics? They had to close factories for nearly a month to clear out the city's pollution for the athletes. This is not a new problem.
