Nearly 1 in 3 college students are narcissistic.

Quote:
The American Freshman Survey, which is published yearly by the Higher Education Research Institution at UCLA, depicts an upward trend in the self-confidence levels of college students since 1966. Over 70 percent of freshman responded that they are more driven than their peers, while over 60 percent thought they were more intelligent and made better leaders than the average student.

70%, heck that's more like 3 out of 4, isn't it?

Mr. L knew the answer and stated it without hesitation, declaring to the psychiatrist, "It was clear to everyone on rounds that I knew more than both the attending and the resident, I can't believe those a**holes didn't give me Honors on that rotation. They were just jealous that a medical student knew more than them."
It's insidious. Relentless. Sooo difficult to be around.

  1. A need for excessive admiration
  2. A sense of entitlement (ie, unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations)
  3. Interpersonally exploitative (ie, takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends)
  4. A lack of empathy (is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others)
  5. Envy of others or a belief that others are envious of him or her
Number 4 is the worst.

Separating from someone that shows these behaviors is not an easy task. For they become "anxious." These types NEED someone to fall back on, blame, ridicule, control--to just be BETTER around.

Sometimes worse? The EXACT OPPOSITE! I think.

Those that feel they are not worthy. Always sorry. Never speak up. Ug - I must work on this.
