Gee it sure is nice to know that the economy is not hampering the government’s ability to spend money on a device that will only be called into service occasionally.
But if they really needed a new toy to play with I could probably built it for them at half the price. I recently watched a video where a guy in Poland did just that. He built a small robo-copter to watch over the riot police to see how they handled the protesters and he certainly did not spend no $300.000.

I bet you could too MS! I'd rather see a unit like that watching over the police, because although they say it's initially for emergency situations or observing the bad guys...it ultimately will be another device to spy on regular citizens and invade their privacy. They already have the highways lined with traffic cameras, of course the red-light cameras that they're benefiting from, especially when they shorten the yellow light timing. And I've read somewhere about them installing both audio and video recorders in regular street lights. Looks like they have too much $$ to play with in my eyes.
